After completing its third relief mission in March, volunteers from Rescue 82 are traveling back to war-torn areas of Ukraine for the organization’s fourth relief mission this week.

Bruce Howland has joined Rescue 82 for the first time. Howland is an Air Force veteran who currently serves as senior pastor of Kimball Baptist Church in Kimball.

During the March mission, the six-man team delivered food and supplies to several villages outside the city of Mykolaiv. The team also delivered 120 gift bags for a children’s hospital, evacuee shelter and recreation center in the city of Kryvyi Rih.

By the end of their third mission, Rescue 82 had delivered food and other humanitarian aid to hundreds of people in villages the ongoing war had heavily damaged.

Founded by Chattanooga Police Sergeant Jeremiah Cook, Rescue 82 is a Chattanooga-based nonprofit. Founder Jeremiah Cook says he’s thankful for the community’s prayers for their safety.

“We often heard explosions in the distance, as our mission took us within 1 mile of Russian-occupied territory.”

While in the country, Rescue 82 also maintains the capacity to evacuate refugees and internally displaced persons away from the crisis zones.
