The Parkwood Convalescent and Nursing Home, located at 2700 Parkwood Ave., held ribbon cutting and dedication ceremonies and an open house this afternoon. The overall investment estimated at $650,000 provides for 96 beds. Administrator for the home is Mrs. Ruth S. Auerswald, R.N.
Claude Davenport, Jr., president of the First Mortgage Corp. of Richmond, announced that Hubert B. Tabb & Associates has been selected to lease and manage the $2 million Shepherd Hills Apartments. The 190-unit development will be located on a 12-acre tract on the east side of Tunnel Boulevard, opposite Shepherd Hills.

A new organization, The Metropolitan Dinner Club of Greater Chattanooga, has been organized by a group of leading business executives. It is patterned after New York’s world-famous Economic Club, with the difference being that the wives will be an integral part as associate members. The club is an affiliate of the Who’s Who Clubs of America. Membership is by invitation only and strictly limited. William M. Hamilton, general manager of the Chattanooga Division of Crane Co., has been named temporary chairman, with Luke O. Morin, Jr., executive vice-president of Chattanooga Royal Co., Wesley G. Brown, manager of the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co., and Chattanooga Realtor John F. Crisman as co-chairmen. Pendell Meyers, president of Meyers Insurance Service, is temporary trustee. Other members of the organization committee are: Lee Stratton Anderson; Albert Miller Crouch; Malone J. Everett; Col. Harrison W. Gill; Wilburn C. Hailey, Jr.; Roy McDonald; Carter N. Paden, Sr.; John K. Williams; and Hon. Frank Wiley Wilson.
Monday, Feb. 15
The Chattanooga Housing Authority Board of Commissioners approved the appointment of Arch E. Trimble as urban renewal project manager at a salary of $630 a month. Executive Director Herbert Banks recommended the appointment of Trimble to fill the position formerly held by Tom Bigley who resigned in November.
Tuesday, Feb. 16
Coyel Ricketts was installed as chairman of the board, succeeding T. Hooke McCallie, at the regular meeting of the Central Branch Y.M.C.A. board of management at Hotel Patten. Ted Nelson assumed responsibility as vice chairman and Sizer Chambliss as secretary.
Wednesday, Feb. 17
Walter B. Wooten, Jr., was elected vice president of Interstate Fire Insurance Co., and Dan Campbell, director of electronic data processing of Interstate Life and Accident Insurance Co., was named an officer in the company, H. Clay Evans Johnson, president of both firms, announced.
Thursday, Feb. 18
G.M. “Speedy” Adcock received the Jaycee of the Quarter award, Wednesday at noon at Hotel Patten in recognition of “his outstanding service” to Chattanooga Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Friday, Feb. 19
Eight members of the Chattanooga Bar Association will serve as the faculty for a course in “Law for Laymen,” which the University of Chattanooga’s Evening College will offer beginning Tuesday.
