First Choice Title has become a sponsor of the local chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors. Founded by Kitty Thompson in 1995, First Choice has an office on Apison Pike in Ooltewah and downtown in the Loveman’s Building.
Speaking with the Women’s Council during their February membership meeting, First Choice Vice President Amber James said dedication to customer service is the company’s top priority.
“We’re happy to accommodate after hours closings,” she said. “Sometimes, unusual circumstances call for unusual measures.”
James said the staff at First Choice likes to think outside the box. “We don’t see problems, we see opportunities to exercise our creativity,” she said, smiling. “We can’t always work something out, but a lot of the time, we can.”
As part of the company’s efforts to meet the demands of a changing industry, First Choice is especially focused on heading off fraud. “Things come across my desk daily regarding issues related to escrow funds and other things,” she said, “so we’re constantly evaluating our processes and asking ourselves how we can better protect your clients and their assets and investments.”
In addition, First Choice has gone paperless, allowing its staff to work seamlessly between their two offices. “If you have a contract with me downtown, and you find out at the last minute that it’s more convenient for your client to close in Ooltewah, we can make that happen,” James said.
In closing, James said First Choice wants to be an asset to Realtors. “Eighty percent of couples say purchasing a home strengthened their relationship more than any other purchase they made, so it’s important for us in the business to work together to make that process as seamless as possible.”
The daughter of Thompson, James has been with First Choice since 1998. After finding her passion in the title industry, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in management and then obtained her Juris Doctor from the Nashville School of Law - all while working full time. A title attorney, she was admitted to practice law in the State of Tennessee after passing the bar in 2011.
James is married and has two boys, ages 5 and 11. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her children, Bible study, reading, and running.
