Hundreds of millions of years ago, the Central Pangean Mountains stretched unbroken across a landmass that would someday separate into North America and Great Britain, leading to the formation of the Appalachian Mountains and the Scottish Highlands. Laced throughout those lowly hills, painter Alan Shuptrine says, was a vast vein of serpentine, a dark-green mineral the ancient Celts believed had magic powers.

Miller & Martin has welcomed Lynzi Archibald, Michael Dumitru and Alan Madison to membership in the firm.

Faith practices primarily in the areas of civil business litigation and estate administration. He has experience representing both businesses and individuals in commercial litigation and business disputes, construction matters, employment law, municipality issues, trust and estate litigation, conservatorships, personal-injury cases and various other types of legal matters in state and federal courts.

Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel has made the BTI Client Service A-Team for the ninth consecutive year. The ranking is based on interviews with corporate counsel and identifies law firms around the country that excel in client service.

BTI evaluates law firm performance from the client’s perspective and has noted how clients’ expectations of client service delivery is changing.

The Tennessee Supreme Court has appointed Chattanooga Bar Association Executive Director Lynda Hood to a two-year term on the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education. The TCCLE is an agency of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. The commission monitors CLE requirements and administers the specialization program for attorneys. The commission members are appointed by the Supreme Court and consist of 11 members, two of which must be non-attorneys.

Kristen Hardy, a Realtor with The Paula McDaniel Group at Real Estate Partners Chattanooga, has earned two national certifications, making her a “Certified New Home Specialist” and a “Residential Construction Certified” professional.

As I prepare to lead Greater Chattanooga Realtors into 2019 as its elected president, I’ve been reflecting on what it means to lead. I believe leading is listening. I call it “leaning in.” For example, I’ve been leaning in to learn from my clients, colleagues, and community.

Chris Norton will be the guest speaker at Siskin Hospital’s 16th annual Possibilities: Siskin Hospital Celebrates Life Beyond Disability. The luncheon will be held Tuesday, March 5, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

The Possibilities Luncheon will also feature a video highlighting a Siskin patient who has overcome disability.

State Sen. Bo Watson (R-Hixson) has been reappointed chairman of the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee. The committee is responsible for legislation pertaining to the budget, taxes, and issuance of bonds.

Watson was also reappointed as a member of the Senate’s Health and General Welfare Committee and the Commerce and Labor Committee.

The Maclellan Foundation has promoted Lee Behar to director of finance. Behar joined Maclellan in 2006.

Throughout his tenure at the foundation, he has served in multiple leadership capacities, including overseeing grant-making in Europe and Eurasia, and providing senior operating and financial leadership to Generous Giving and Generosity Path.

Chattanooga State Community College representatives, elected officials and Tennessee Board of Regents members gathered for a special ceremony on Jan. 11 to honor the late Sen. Ray Albright and Rep. Paul Starnes for their leadership in helping to create a lasting legacy for the community and at Chattanooga State.
