Greater Chattanooga Realtors named past presidents Mark Hite and Steven Sharpe as 2023 Realtors of the Year during its Installment & Awards Reception Jan. 25 at Chattanooga Whiskey Event Hall. Hite and Sharpe both died last year.

The association presents its Realtor of the Year Award in recognition of an agent’s contributions to the real estate industry, the local community, and the local and state associations.

Hite and Sharpe not only were active members of the association but also consistently participated in civic activities to better causes throughout Chattanooga, the association noted in a news release announcing the awards.

Hite served on nearly every Greater Chattanooga Realtors committee and twice served as the association’s president. In addition, he was involved with several charitable organizations, including Cempa Community Care, Chambliss Center for Children, Habitat for Humanity, Rotary, Pink, CHI Memorial, Launch Pad, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.

“Mark was quick to jump in and help with his time, experience and checkbook, contributing more than $200,000 annually to local nonprofits with a kind heart and a mindset of community stewardship,” the association’s news release reads.

Sharpe also served on nearly every association committee and was serving as the 2023 Greater Chattanooga Realtors president when he died. He served as a state director and also participated on five state committees.

Tennessee Realtors presented Sharp with its Good Neighbor award in 2023 for co-founding Camp Horizon, a camp for children with special needs, with his wife, Lindsey.

Sharpe was a Realtor Party major investor and served as a director and on the Leadership Edge Advisory Board at the national level.

“We’ll forever cherish the time we had with Mark and Steven, and we’ll always value the impact they had on our association, members and community,” said Kadi Brown, 2024 Greater Chattanooga Realtors president, during the awards ceremony. “We feel the void of their absence, but their memories and legacies will not disappear.”
