The Chattanooga Theatre Centre has launched its 2018-2019 season with a production of the Disney musical “Newsies.”
The show runs through Oct. 14. Last season’s opening musical, “The Wiz,” sold out the entire run.
The Tony Award-winning musical is based on the true story of a scrappy group of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City who become unlikely heroes when they rally forces to fight an unscrupulous newspaper tycoon.
Chattanooga Theatre Centre’s production of “Newsies” is directed by Katherine Michelle Tanner of Sarasota. Andrew Parker of the Chattanooga Ballet created the choreography, while Chattanooga’s Grammy Award-winning composer Michael Huseman leads the vocals.
