Newsmakers: New partners named at J.D. Frost




Alan King, Brittany Carman and Ryan Hood, all CPAs, are now partners at public accounting firm J.D. Frost & Company.

King has more than 15 years of experience in both public accounting and industry. His practice focuses on construction, manufacturing and distribution, and technology industries as well as startup companies.

Carman has 12 years of experience in public accounting in Chattanooga and the greater Atlanta area. She has been with the firm since 2013 and oversees all financial statement assurance engagements including audits, reviews, compilations and preparations. Her experience spans a variety of industries including construction contractors, manufacturing and distribution, nonprofit entities and privately-held companies.

Hood has more than 15 years of experience in both public accounting and industry and specializes in construction contractors, real estate and privately-held companies. He also handles all IRS correspondence related to any tax notices for the firm’s clients.

J.D. Frost & Company is moving to The Troy, which is nearing completion on the 1400 block of Chestnut Street.

Parkridge welcomes pulmonologist

Board-certified pulmonologist Minerva Covarrubias has joined the pulmonology team at the Parkridge Medical Group – Diagnostic Center practice located at 2205 McCallie Ave.

Covarrubias has received training in treating the full scope of pulmonary diseases, including lung cancer. During her previous appointment, Covarrubias introduced advanced bronchoscopy procedures, such as endobronchial ultrasound and electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy.

A California native, Covarrubias earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, in Camden, New Jersey.

She performed an internal medicine residency at Rochester General Hospital, in Rochester, New York and served a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Prior to joining Parkridge Health, Covarrubias served as part of Maury Pulmonary & Critical Care Associates. She also taught as an assistant professor of medicine at Meharry Medical College in Nashville.

Patton Albertson & Miller adds Smith

With 11 years of banking and trust experience, Justin Smith is the newest client advisor at financial management firm Patton Albertson & Miller.

Smith is a native of Signal Mountain and participates in the Young Professionals of Chattanooga, The Muse of Fire Project, Friends of the Library and The Chattanooga Estate Planning Council. A graduate of Belhaven University, he provides feedback and guidance in his role on the UTC Planned Giving Advisory Council.

Memorial welcomes urologist Currin

Mark Currin has joined CHI Memorial Chattanooga Urology Associates, located in the Memorial Missionary Ridge Medical Tower at 725 Glenwood Dr.

Currin earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in urology at Medical University of South Carolina.

His practice involves the medical and surgical management of stone disease, endourology, urological oncology, minimally invasive and robotic urology and female incontinence and voiding symptoms. His robotic experience is primarily in kidney, ureteral and prostate surgery.

Currin is returning to his hometown and joining the same practice where his father, Dr. Samuel Currin, served for 26 years.

Mark Currin was a whitewater kayak instructor while in college and served as a medical student volunteer in Uganda during medical school. He enjoys outdoor recreation activities, woodworking and printmaking.
