Chambliss expands IP and labor, employment base with new hires

Stephen Adams and Matt Wayne join Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel’s intellectual property and labor and employment practice areas.

Adams, a registered patent attorney and mechanical engineer, joins the firm’s intellectual property group whose patent attorneys and engineers have over 60 years of combined legal experience.

“Stephen comes to us with more than six years of experience with a respected intellectual property boutique firm. He has written and prosecuted patent applications in a variety of mechanical and electrical arts and is also experienced in negotiating and drafting various intellectual property related agreements, handling matters relating to trade secrets and filing and prosecuting trademark registration applications and copyright claim registration applications,” says David Hill, intellectual property chair at Chambliss.

Adams represents individuals, startups, corporations, governmental entities and universities. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Tennessee.

Wayne brings a variety of litigation experience to the firm’s labor and employment section, counseling clients on employment disputes and advising them on federal and state workplace laws and regulations.

“We are delighted to welcome Matt to our section,” says Rosemarie Hill, labor and employment chair at Chambliss. “He’s an excellent trial lawyer and brings a legally sound, thoughtful and pragmatic perspective to the labor and employment issues our clients experience each day.”

Wayne works with clients primarily in the education, food and beverage, manufacturing and service industries. In addition to representing and defending clients before governmental agencies, he proactively counsels employers on hiring, firing, discipline, leave, wage and hour laws and reasonable accommodations.

Wayne earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and his law degree from the UT College of Law. Wayne is a Chattanooga Bar Association Young Lawyers Division board member, member of the UTC GOLD Council and local Rotaract Club and a volunteer for the Lookout Mountain Conservancy.
