Former presidentially appointed U.S. Attorney William “Bill” Killian has joined Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel. Killian will concentrate on assisting clients with regulatory investigations, white collar criminal defense and governmental law.

Killian has extensive experience in representing, advising and defending clients in governmental and administrative matters and white collar criminal defense cases. He’s been lead counsel in high-stakes fraud mediations and negotiations, national security investigations and multi-million-dollar corporate settlements.

Killian also has substantial experience with federal, state and local courts, including various state supreme courts. In addition, he’s worked with local, state and federal agencies, including the United States Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, FBI and National Nuclear Security Administration.

“Chambliss is known for its highly qualified lawyers and quality representation of its clients,” Killian says. “I’m looking forward to being a part of this team and helping to expand the firm’s capabilities.”

Killian will assist Chambliss’ clients in the health care, financial services, government utilities, manufacturing and public service industries. When discussing client relationships, Killian notes that his priority is giving clients 100 percent effort in legal and ethical representation and educating clients on the proactive, efficient and effective use of legal services.

Killian came to Chambliss from Polsinelli’s national government investigations and compliance practice. As U.S. attorney, he served on several attorney general advisory committees, including the Civil Rights Subcommittee, Health Care Fraud Working Group and National Security Subcommittee. Killian has also served as a hearing officer for the Board of Professional Responsibility.

Killian is a Mid-South Super Lawyer (2006-2010, 2016-2017). He’s also served in the U.S. Army and Tennessee National Guard.

“Bill is a great addition to the firm,” says Max Bahner, senior counsel at Chambliss. “His broad range of experience, especially as a former U. S. attorney and trial lawyer, will complement the depth of talent in the firm’s litigation and governmental compliance practice groups.”
