Events: Free Veteran’s Day concert




The Chattanooga Symphony and Opera will perform its sixth annual Veteran’s Day concert on Saturday, Nov. 11, 7:30 p.m. at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium. The event will also feature the Lee University Singers. The concert will be free and open to the public.

Jewish Cultural Center concert

The Southern Adventist University Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Jewish Cultural Center, 5461 North Terrace Road, on Monday, Nov. 13, 7 p.m. The concert will be free and open to the public. RSVP: 423 493-0270, rsvp@jewishchattanooga.com.

The program will feature works by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), including “Overture to Egmont,” “Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major,” with Chin Yong Yun on piano, and “Symphony No. 2 in D major.”

Jarett Walker lecture

The public is invited to attend a free lecture by Jarrett Walker of Jarrett Walker + Associates on Thursday, Nov. 16, 6 p.m. at Bessie Smith Cultural Center. Light refreshments will be provided beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets may be acquired at Eventbrite.com. (Use the search box at the top of the page.)

This lecture is the inaugural event for the Robert C. Taylor Lecture Series, a new program of the Chattanooga Design Studio. This program is a quarterly event in Chattanooga which will host recognized scholars and practitioners that address topics related to urbanism. Grateful Gobbler Walk

Registration is open for the 18th annual Grateful Gobbler Walk. The 5K walk, run and stroll will take place Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 23, 8 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Maclellan Shelter for Families. $25 for walkers and runners 13 years and older, and $10 for ages 12 and younger. Teams and individuals can register, volunteer and donate at www.gratefulgobblerwalk.org.
