Spicer Rudstrom has added John D. Barry to its Chattanooga office. The experienced civil litigator has been serving clients for nearly 40 years.
Barry brings his practice of tort, contracts, products liability, insurance and casualty defense to the firm as he assumes an of counsel role.
“John is an accomplished civil litigator who has worked with nationally known insurance carriers for several decades on cases involving fire and arson issues, bad faith claims, construction disputes, commercial and residential premises liability and uninsured motorist actions, among others,” said Thomas E. LeQuire, managing member of Spicer Rudstrom’s Chattanooga office.
“John had a successful career in the U.S. Army Reserve as chief prosecutor and officer in charge of a JAG Corps branch office. That experience motivated him to enter private practice, where he believes in making sure his clients understand the law. We’re thrilled he’s joined our firm and are looking forward to introducing him to our clients.”
Most recently, Barry was the principal of Milligan-Barry, where he was named partner in 1983. He has also practiced at what was then Milligan, Hooper and Harris.
Barry is a member of the Chattanooga Bar Association’s fee dispute resolution committee and the Chattanooga Military Lawyers Association.
Barry has been a frequent lecturer and speaker for the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the National Business Institute and the Tennessee Court Reporters Association. He also served as an adjunct professor of law at Embry-Riddle University.
Barry earned his Juris Doctor from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and graduated in the top 10 percent from the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
