On Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m., harpsichordist Christa Rakich will perform J.S. Bach’s “Goldberg Variations.” Critically acclaimed for her live performances and recordings, Rakich’s concert career has taken her throughout North America and Europe. Her interpretations, particularly of music by Bach, have been praised for their “variety, ingenuity, elegance, and scholarship,” St. Paul’s said in a press release. Bach’s monumental and iconic “Goldberg Variations” is considered a masterful and ambitious work – a Mount Everest for keyboard soloists, St. Paul’s said. Rakick said, “This extraordinary work begins and ends with a songful Aria, and in between are 30 dazzling variations – each one a precious gem ranging in emotion from lively to dreamy, joyous to tragic, dazzling to poetic. My hope is that this concert will be a beautiful adventure for both the performer and the audience.”

On Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m., Eya: Ensemble for Medieval Music will perform “A Medieval Candlelight Christmas.” An award-winning ensemble based in Washington, DC, Eya specializes in the interpretation of medieval music for women’s voices. The Washington Post called them “Remarkable… Gorgeous… A precise ensemble with a strong sense of presence and ringing vowels that reverberated to the farthest reaches of the cathedral.”

A true cross-over ensemble, The Dalí Quartet is made up of Hispanic musicians whose style “leaves the audience almost dancing in the aisles,” said Peninsula Reviews.

On Friday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m., St. Paul’s Artist Series will present organist Katelyn Emerson, winner of the American Guild of Organists 2016 National Competition. Acclaimed for her superlative performances throughout the United States and Europe, Emerson’s repertoire spans music from the 14th through 21st centuries.

On Friday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m., the Vienna Piano Trio will make its Chattanooga debut performing works by Brahms and Schubert. In performances throughout the world, this award-winning ensemble has earned acclaim for its “finesse, infectious exuberance, tonal allure, and irresistible panache,” said St. Paul’s. Palm Beach Daily News called them “an exciting and eminently artistic group that plays with high intensity.”

On Tuesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m., the season will conclude with a performance by The Tallis Scholars. The Tallis Scholars have explored the repertoire of a cappella Renaissance sacred vocal music for over four decades. Through their numerous recordings and over 2,000 concerts worldwide, The Tallis Scholars have earned their reputation as “the rock stars of Renaissance vocal music,” said The New York Times.
