Several hundred Senior Neighbors from throughout the area converged on Warner Park Field House Friday for the second annual Senior Citizens Picnic. It was a day of constant entertainment, friendship, and information. Pat St. Charles was master of ceremonies. The affair was sponsored jointly by the Senior Neighbors and the Chattanooga Kiwanis Club.
U.S. Rep. Gerald R. Ford, House Minority leader, addressed approximately 600 Republicans who attended the $50-a-plate Bill Brock Appreciation Dinner Friday.
Sunday, May 8
Announcement of a scholarship fund providing four full-tuition scholarships was made Saturday night at the Baylor School Alumni Association’s annual meeting. The fund will be named in honor of two retiring associate headmasters – James A. Pennington and Charles H. Berryman – and will be known as the Pennberry Scholarships. They will be awarded first in 1967-68. Dr. Charles Hawkins, headmaster, made the announcement.

William G. Wade, founder of Wade-Brown Co., the first manufacturer of living room furniture in Chattanooga, died in a local hospital Saturday after a brief illness. An active church leader, he was a charter member and deacon of the Northside Baptist Church. In addition to his church work, he was an active member of the Chattanooga Camp of Gideons International.

Officers of the Chattanooga Retail Merchants Association re-elected Tuesday at a directors meeting at the Hamilton Bank boardroom are: Richard Worley, president; H.T. Zeilke, first vice president; A.D. Morton, second vice president; Joe King, treasurer, and Mrs. Ruth Holt, executive secretary.

Herman Walldorf has been selected Chattanooga Realtor of 1966 and nominated for Tennessee Realtor of the Year, Elgin Smith, president of the Chattanooga Board of Realtors, announced Tuesday.
More than 100 area physicians are expected to register for the two-day annual symposium on chronic pulmonary diseases at Holiday Inn South. Dr. L. Spires Whitaker is chairman of the symposium. B. Lamar Rankin, president of Hamilton County Tuberculosis Association, presided at the opening luncheon.

A $1.5 million expansion of educational facilities at Chattanooga’s Tennessee Temple College was disclosed Wednesday by Dr. J.B. Faulkner, vice president of the institution, which in two decades has grown from a small and relatively unknown school to a nationally recognized college. Ground was broke for an ultra modern, fully equipped new gymnasium. Construction of men’s and women’s dormitories, each four stories high, and each to accommodate 250 students, will be the next phase in the expansion program.
The Sperry & Hutchinson Co. will open an S&H Green Stamp Redemption Center in Midtown Office Park, located at 1089 Bailey Ave., it was announced Wednesday by Harry D. Wheeler, district operations manager for the trading stamp firm.

Ray Coleman, assistant principal at Brainerd High School, was appointed principal of Kirkman Technical High School, effective June 8, by the city school board Wednesday on the recommendation of Supt. Bennie Carmichael.
