A $1,000 check has been presented to the local chapter of Susan G. Komen, thanks to a month-long campaign to support the fight against breast cancer.

During the month of October, FIVE and the Plastic Surgery Group teamed up to launch #DrinkPink, an effort to raise funds to fight breast cancer and increase awareness of the disease.

As part of its commitment to supporting breast cancer awareness month, FIVE, backed by marketing support from the Plastic Surgery Group, sold pink mimosas to restaurant patrons for $5 apiece.

More than 150 were sold during the campaign. The money will be used to fund local community grants that provide educational programs and local services such as mammograms, screenings, and diagnostics for women and men who could not otherwise afford them.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women. About one in eight women born in the U.S. will get breast cancer at some point, but it is treatable if detected early.
