After an extensive nationwide search, the Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga (HBAGC) welcomed their new executive officer, Terry Greene, to the team. Greene is responsible for leading the HBAGC, which has over 400 members and is the professional voice of the home building industry in the Chattanooga area.

A native of southwest Missouri, Greene received a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications from Drury University in Springfield, Mo. His background includes communications experience in radio, television, newspaper, and advertising.

In the area of government affairs, Greene has more than 20 years of experience at the local, state and national level, including 10 years on the staff of a member of Congress. In addition, Greene has worked on various state and national political campaigns, including three presidential campaigns.

Upon leaving public service, Greene started a company that focused on emergency response and crisis management for public school districts and community colleges throughout the Midwest and Southeast. In that capacity, he worked with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, and various emergency management agencies throughout the U.S.

Before joining HBAGC, Greene served as the executive officer for the Home Builders Association of East Central Illinois (HBAECI). During his tenure with HBAECI, the association’s membership grew by more than 100 percent, deficits were eliminated, membership engagement reached all-time highs, and HBAECI received the National Association of Home Builders’ “Award of Excellence” for its “Dare to Dream, Dream to Build” partnership with Habitat for Humanity.

Greene served 10 years on the Mahomet-Seymour Board of Education, one of the top 25 public school districts in the state of Illinois, and was the board president from 2009-2015. Greene and his wife, Tricia, have four sons and currently reside in Hixson, Tenn.

Greene said, “I’m excited to have the opportunity to join the Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga, which has an excellent reputation for their professionalism and their long history of giving to many worthwhile charitable causes. The Chattanooga area has a tremendously bright future, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”
