Boutique hotel approved for Walnut Street

Members of the Chattanooga City Council approved the re-zoning Tuesday of the site selected for The Walnut Street Boutique Hotel. Located in the Arts District on Walnut Street, the five-story structure will feature 90 rooms with views of Chattanooga’s riverfront, Hunter Museum of American Art, and mountain vistas. Utilizing the best practices and technology in the industry, guests will enjoy having many of their preferences met with the swipe of a smart phone.

Mitch Patel, president and CEO of Vision Hospitality Group, spent the past few months meeting with area neighbors and stakeholders to provide information and receive input about the project. The project received unanimous support by the Regional Planning Commission before being presented to the Chattanooga City Council.

“Because Chattanooga is our home, it’s even more important that we provide a hotel experience unlike any other,” Patel said. “We want our guests to have an authentic Chattanooga experience that features locally sourced food and products that are unique to this city.”

Patel said the five-story structure would offer rooftop amenities, an art collection, restaurant and patio dining, and valet parking. While the working name for the project is The Walnut Street Boutique Hotel, Patel said an announcement will be forthcoming about the hotel’s official name. The project is slated to begin work next year with an opening slated for 2016.

Along with the jobs created during the construction phase, once open, the hotel will provide 50 full and part-time local jobs.
