Morrow Chamberlain, secretary and treasurer of the Roane Iron Co., was elected president of the Chattanooga Manufacturers Association. he will succeed Morris Temple. The executive board is composed of Fred Arn, first vice president; Willard Warner, second vice president; W.E. Brock, treasurer; and Oscar L. Bunn, secretary.

Sunday, Oct. 18

The wedding of Miss Lena Bell Bowen of Wartrace, Tenn. and Terrell M. Clemons of Chattanooga will take place Tuesday in the Baptist Church of Wartrace. Miss Bowen is a very talented young lady who was educated in Nashville schools. Mr. Clemons is the senior member of the firm of Clemons Bros. Furniture Co. After a southern wedding trip, they will reside in Chattanooga.

Monday, Oct. 19

The Market House on Market Square is nearing completion. There have been 53 applications for space. Major Warner, Commissioner of Public Utilities, has not selected the “Market Master” yet. There will be a board meeting next week.

The YMCA is open and in good shape. Men and boys are enrolling every day for classes. The largest so far is the Spanish class taught by Dr. F. C. Freeman. Another large class is Mechanical Drawing taught by A.S. McLundle.

Tuesday, Oct. 20

Ex-Mayor and Mrs. W.L. Frierson announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Margaret, to Dr. James G. Williamson of Columbia, Tenn. The wedding will take place in December. Miss Frierson is one of Chattanooga’s popular young ladies.

Capt. Charles A. Lyerly, president of the First National Bank, Monday was elected a member of the advisory committee associated with the Federal Reserve in the management of the new American Financial system. Capt. Lyerly represents Sixth Federal Reserve District.

Wednesday, Oct. 21

The City of Chattanooga will celebrate “Edison Day” with the arrival of the Electrical Special consisting of seven cars. There will be a public picture show and a street parade. Three cars are reserved for electrical dealers. The parade will form on Broad Street at the Read House at 8 p.m. following a band concert. L.J. Wilhoite is general chairman for the celebration.

Paul Campbell of Chattanooga was married Tuesday to Mrs. Margaret Wild of Madisonville, Ky. After a wedding trip, they will reside in Chattanooga at 724 Bailey. Mr. Campbell is a member of the law firm of Finlay, Campbell, and Coffey.

A horse and wagon belonging to Turner & Jones Meat Market made a dash down Seventh Street from the Elizabeth Apartments at about 5:30 p.m., causing great excitement. The wagon finally turned over at George K. Brown’s “Palace” corner on Market Street. The horse had been frightened by an automobile.

Thursday, Oct. 22

Today is a great occasion for the University of Chattanooga in accentuating a forward step in education. Pres. F.W. Hixson’s inaugurating ceremonies will be held at the Bijou Theater, and a cornerstone will be laid for a magnificent new gymnasium at the corner of Baldwin and Oak Streets.

Mrs. George W. Stephenson and children of Lookout Mountain are visiting Mrs.T.W. Crutchfield.

Friday, Oct. 23

Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Spencer are in Chicago for a stay of several months.

Coach Alex Guerry has taken the Baylor football team to Knoxville to play Knoxville City High Saturday. Coach Sam McAllester has taken Chattanooga High team to Rome, Ga., to play Darlington School.
