Community Festival Day

Saturday, Sept. 27

East Chattanooga Improvement and the City of Chattanooga Department of Youth and Family Development are inviting residents in East Chattanooga and the surrounding neighborhoods to Community Festival Day. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, at Carver Youth and Development Center, located at 600 North Orchard Knob Avenue. The festival will begin at noon and conclude at 7 p.m., and feature free medical screenings, food, drinks, and family games. Power 94’s Nori Nori will serve as MC; performers will include Eastgate’s Senior Steppers, Echoes of Heaven, Brainerd High’s Voices of Fire, Howard’s Show Choir, Catherine Boaz, G3, and Brother Charles McGraw. There is no cost to attend.

2014 Grape Stomp

Saturday, Oct. 4

Tickets are on sale for the 2014 Grape Stomp at the Georgia Winery in Ringgold, Ga. The family friendly event will take place Saturday, Oct. 4 from noon to 5:30 p.m. - rain or shine! All ages are welcome, 20 years old and under are free, 21 years old and up are $10 and will include a wine tasting during the event. The Grape Stomp features a live grape stomp, live music by the Beaters, an “I Love Lucy” look-alike contest, a Kids on the Block performance, a photo booth by M. Brown Photography, hayrides, kids activities, wine tasting, local food vendors, craft vendors, and more. The Grape Stomp will benefit Chattanooga’s Kids on the Block, which uses puppetry to educate children about social concerns and differences. CKOB performs educational puppetry programs in 16 counties free of charge on topics such as bullying, self esteem, child abuse prevention, accepting differences, healthy eating, and using good manners. Photographic Society open house

The Photographic Society of Chattanooga will hold its annual open house with special guest Vinny Colucci on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. Colucci has been an active photographer since 1979, and shooting professionally since 1995. His images have been published in books and magazines, and he presents nature and wildlife photography workshops throughout the year. The program will begin at 7 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church Gym, located at 3921 Murray Hills Drive in Chattanooga. Visitors are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Rock City’s Enchanted MAiZE

Rock City’s Enchanted MAiZE is now open at Blowing Springs Farm every Thursday through Sunday through Nov. 2. Back for its 13th season, this fall’s new maze design is a crop circle that holds a hidden code visitors can break by going to Rock City’s social media pages for clues. The Critter Corral returns Fridays through Sundays with rabbits, donkeys, sheep, goats, pigs, alpacas, a miniature Scottish Highland Cow, a mini-horse, and more. Tickets include the maze, a hayride, the cow train, the Coca-Cola Playground, corn slingshots, the Critter Corral, and the pumpkin maze.
