Memorial Stair Climb

Saturday, Sept. 13

Firefighters from the Chattanooga area on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 7 a.m. at the SunTrust Bank Building, located at 736 Market Street, will host the 1st annual Chattanooga 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. The event will consist of participants climbing the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs, just as the firefighters did in the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001. Each participant will represent a FDNY firefighter who gave his or her life on that day in an attempt to save others. This is a fundraising event for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation which creates and maintains events for fire service survivors. Monies raised will provide assistance to the surviving families and co-workers of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. The registration fee is $30.

Touch-A-Truck

Saturday, Sept. 13

Children have a fascination for and enjoy exploring large motorized vehicles. At Touch-A-Truck, to be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Tennessee Riverpark (in the maintenance field parking lot adjacent to C.B. Robinson Bridge), they will have the opportunity to observe up close and have hands on interaction with a variety of trucks, service rigs, and other motorized vehicles. Fun activities provided by child serving agencies and organizations will assure that children and parents will enjoy the day.

Little Cedar Mountain Hike

Saturday, Sept. 13

Nickajack naturalist Bob Butters will join Outdoor Chattanooga for a four-mile nature hike on the newly re-opened Little Cedar Mountain trail Saturday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. participants will have the opportunity to learn about the native species that inhabit the mountain and enjoy spectacular views of Nickajack Lake. Eat wings, raise funds

Monday, Sept. 15

The Blood Assurance Foundation will host an “Eat Wings, Raise Funds” event at the Downtown Chattanooga and Hixson Buffalo Wild Wings locations on Monday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to midnight. Buffalo Wild Wings will donate ten percent of receipt sales during the event to Blood Assurance. Patrons simply need to tell their servers they are dining there to support the foundation. The Downtown Chattanooga restaurant is located at 120 Market Street. Buffalo Wild Wings in Hixson is located at 5477 Highway 153.
