Sunday, June 11

Dr. David A. Lock-miller, president of Ohio Wesleyan University and former president of the University of Chattanooga, was presented the honorary degree of Doctor of Hum-ane Letters at the 47th annual commencement of the American University in Washington, D.C., Sunday night.

Monday, June 12

U.S. District Judge Leslie R. Darr proposed Monday that the Law College of Cumberland University be merged with the University of Tennessee College of Law and be located in Chattanooga.

Wednesday, June 14

Commissioner Pat Wil-cox on the advice of his physician has taken a sick leave from his duties at City Hall. He requested Mayor Olgiati to take full charge of the Department of Public Works until he is able to return to his office.

Friday, June 16

Mayor Olgiati and County Judge Frost will dedicate Moccasin Bend to public use in honor of the men of the North and South who fought on area battlefields during the Civil War.  June 18-24 will be proclaimed as “Civil War Centennial Week.”
