General Services Administration has canceled indefinitely the plans to convert the lawns at the Post Office building into parking strips, it was officially announced Friday following a conference between federal and city officials. Mayor Olgiati announced that all of the space on the East Tenth Street beside the Post Office would be yielded to the U.S. Government.

Sunday, June 4

The 56th annual commencement of McCallie School for 110 members in the Senior Class was held Sunday afternoon on Alumni Field.

Tuesday, June 6

The TVA revealed Tuesday it has called exploratory meetings to determine if it is practical to transfer by mechanical means both grains and liquids from barges below Wheeler Dam to barges on its upstream side. The navigation lock at Wheeler was put out of commission Friday night when a portion of the wall and the lock gave way and will be out of commission for many months.

The Lookouts were defeated by Atlanta, 6-1, before a crowd of about 8,000, the best crowd here in several years.
