Monday, May 22

County Court Clerk David M. Ramsey was preparing extra counter facilities Monday for the biennial issuance of state driver’s licenses here between June 1 and July 1. Chattanooga’s three banks will assist again this year in the renewal of some 100,000 driver’s licenses.

Tuesday, May 23

The City Commission Tuesday adopted a condemnation resolution for an acquisition of 22 tracts in the right of way for the freeway from Central Avenue to Fourth Avenue. Unofficial estimates put the cost of the project, including interchanges at Central Avenue and Rossville Boulevard at between $3,000,000 and $4,000,000.

Thursday, May 25

The family of the late L.J. Wilhoite has presented more than 3,000 of his books to Tennessee Temple Schools for the new 100,000-volume library building to be dedicated Saturday. Mr. Wilhoite was chairman of the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga for 22 years until his death in July 1960.
