What was happening in Chattanooga in 1960



Sunday, February 5
Dr. Maxwell A. Smith, chairman of the department of modern languages at the University of Chattanooga has been notified that he is to receive “Chevalier de la Legion d’Honeur” one of the highest honors the French government can bestow. Jacques Grellet, consul general of France at New Orleans, will confer of Dr. Smith the insignia of the Legion of Honor.

Monday, February 6
The Krystal Company, at a meeting of 20 city managers from eight states here Monday, announced plans to expand operations into several other Southeastern States by early 1962. Vice-President R.B. Davenport III said the company plans to build restaurants in four cities not now served by Krystal in their general area of operations.

Tuesday, February 7
Chamberlain McAllester and Robert McNabb Mc-Alester – identical twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. William L. McAllester were introduced to Circuit Judge John Mahoney as new attorneys licensed to practice in Tennessee. The brothers attended Bright and Baylor Schools, graduated from Choate School, Yale University and McKenzie College of Law.
