Sunday, January 22
John H. Reddy took the oath of office Saturday afternoon as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee and immediately assumed the duties of the office. Judge Darr administered the oath. Reddy fills the vacancy caused by the resignation of John C. Crawford.

Monday, January 23
The temperature dropped to 7 degrees early Sunday morning making it the coldest January 22 recorded in Chattanooga, the U.S. Weather Bureau at Lovell Field reported. The previous low reading, on the same date, was 13 degrees in 1885.

Tuesday, January 24
Edgar D. Collins, manager of the Vulcan Material Company, plant here was elected potentate of the Alhambra Temple to succeed James A. Buford. Mr. Collins is secretary of the Hamilton County Election Commission and a past exalted ruler of Chattanooga Lodge 91, Elks.

Wednesday, January 25
The promotion of George Clark, Jr., to secretary, board of directors, and the election of Parker W. Ingalls, vice-president and trust officers, to Pioneer Bank’s board of directors were announced Tuesday following the Bank’s annual directors and stockholders meeting.
