Community partnerships make us stronger

Love where you live. On the surface, it’s simple, but loving where you live means being actively invested in the community.

That’s why in addition to the causes our members support individually, Greater Chattanooga Realtors partners with charitable organizations to positively impact where we live, work and play.

This week, I want to highlight the work of our Community Partnerships Committee, which supports our ongoing work with Habitat for Humanity and Snack Packs.

These volunteers are the behind-the-scenes cheerleaders who work to engage their fellow Realtors. In 2021, their collective efforts for our biannual Tee Up & Wine Down fundraiser for Habitat brought in more than $61,000!

Our Community Partnerships Committee is currently focused on Trivia Night, which will benefit the local Snack Pack Ministry. This event has been on a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic and we’re excited it’s back this year.

Snack Pack serves our neighbors in an extraordinary way. An estimated one out of four school-aged children are food insecure, which, in Hamilton County equates to nearly 11,000 children in need of food.

It takes approximately $80 to provide this ministry to one child. In addition to volunteering for the monthly packing days, Greater Chattanooga Realtors is hosting Trivia Night Thursday, Aug. 4, at The Comedy Catch to raise awareness of this important organization.

Our 2019 Trivia Night raised more than $54,000. We hope to do it again this year but we’ll need the community’s help.

Trivia teams will enjoy food, drinks, door prizes and a comedy show. This year’s theme is “Battle of the Decades,” and there are prizes for the most creative team decked out representing their favorite decade.

Trivia Night is open to the public. Go to gcar.net for more information and to sign up before the July 21 deadline or before every team slot is taken.

If you’re unable to participate in person, you can still help. Our Community Partnerships Committee is challenging the entire membership to see how many children we can feed during the 2022-2023 school year. To accept this challenge, make an $80 contribution now through July 21 to sponsor one child.

We’ll then announce the following winners during Trivia Night:

The Realtor with the most sponsorships

The office with the highest percentage of Realtor participation

Offices with 100% participation

I can’t say enough good things about those who serve on the various committees at Greater Chattanooga Realtors. I know it’s not easy to find the time to step away from work and volunteer, so I’m grateful for every member who serves with “skin in the game.”

Our Community Partnerships Committee is just one example of how Realtors do more than buy and sell real estate. There are many other ways in which our agents give back to this community.

Realtors serve in many different ways – and we invite you to do the same. That’s Who We R.
