April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

The McNabb Center is launching a monthlong social media awareness campaign to bring attention to Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Throughout April, the center will be sharing information about how to recognize and prevent child abuse and neglect.

The center is also asking community members to share photos of themselves wearing royal blue – the color of Child Abuse Prevention Month – on social media using #McNabbChildAbusePrevention and follow the center’s Facebook page @McNabbCenterGreaterChatt throughout the month.

“Prevention is key,” says Mona Blanton-Kitts, McNabb Center vice president of clinical services. “Every day, the McNabb Center helps strengthen families through early intervention and prevention programs. These programs give parents the skills and resources they need to prevent negative parenting practices before they begin.”

The Children’s Advocacy Centers of Tennessee says a child in the U.S. is abused or neglected every 47 seconds.

The McNabb Center works to reduce instances of child abuse and neglect by ensuring parents have the knowledge, skills and resources they need to care for their children.

The center offers multiple programs that promote children’s social and emotional well-being and prevent child maltreatment within families and communities.
