Area 61 Gallery is featuring a new exhibit of works by North Georgia pop surrealist Jeff Delude.
Delude created this body of work, named “Collision 2020,” during the coronavirus pandemic. Many visual elements of this year’s social, cultural and civil unrest climate can be found within his compositions.
“Art must account for its time and place, springing from the past and arcing toward the future,” Delude says. “My task is to comment on the stormy sea of crowded distractions we all face on a daily basis.”
Delude has earned three degrees in fine art and has been a full-time working artist for over 45 years in Houston and Asheville, North Carolina. He now works from his cabin studio in the north Georgia mountains just outside Chattanooga.
Delude describes this body of work as a cross-pollination of surrealism, pop and expressionism.
“My goal is to provide saturated visual compositions infused with good storytelling ... [and] to supply fertile ground for viewers to have a run with their own interpretation of those stories.”
Original works from Delude’s “Collision 2020” will be available for viewing and purchase through Nov. 1 at Area 61 Gallery, located at 721 Broad St. (next to the Tivoli Theatre).
