CHI Memorial Foundation announces 2020-21 board




CHI Memorial Foundation, the fundraising arm of CHI Memorial, has announced its officers and members of the board of directors for the next year.

Dan Norton will continue in his role as chair. Julie Brandao will serve as vice chair, Jeremy Jenkins as treasurer and Rob Carden as secretary. Members at large are Will Clegg and Rich Kramer.

Jonathan Adams, Zac Brown and Lacy Burd are new members of the foundation’s board.

They join Camille Daniel, Gina Dhanani, James Headrick, M.D., Janie Jones, Ginny Kelly, Laura Ketcham, Lisa Maclellan, Steve McNally, Steve Newton, Rick Partain, Dana Perry, James Pesnell, Kelly Richardson, M.D., Stephanie Sinkfield, Taylor Whaley, M.D., and Chad Young.

Members ex-officio are Jennifer Nicely, president, CHI Memorial Foundation, and Janelle Reilly, market CEO, CHI Memorial.

Adams is the head boys basketball coach at Notre Dame High School, where he also teaches criminal justice, sports psychology and wellness. Previously, he was an assistant coach at McCallie School and a graduate assistant and director of basketball operation at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

A native of Chattanooga, Adams holds a degree in psychology from Old Dominion University, where he played basketball. He also holds a Masters of Education in special education from UTC and an education specialist degree in curriculum and instruction from Liberty University.

During his time on the basketball team at Old Dominion, the team went to the final four of the National Invitation Tournament and participated in the NCAA Tournament. Adam’s community involvement includes Chattanooga Community Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity and working with the Chattanooga Ironman event.

Brown is a native Tennessean who began his career as a high school math teacher and wrestling coach, then served as an assistant superintendent for school operations, principal and assistant principal in the Hamilton County school system.

Brown is the director of induction and leadership development for Hamilton County Schools. During his three years at The Howard School, Brown helped to develop the nationally recognized Intern and Leadership Program at Lookout Mountain Conservancy.

Brown worked with students, parents, teachers, counselors, athletic directors and conservancy staff to build a program focused on helping students graduate from Howard and preparing them for college or job placement.

Brown earned a degree in secondary education mathematics from Bryan College and a Master of Arts in secondary education mathematics from Western Governors University. He holds a Master of Arts and an educational specialist degree in instructional leadership at Tennessee Technological University.

He went on to receive a doctor of education in leadership and professional practice at Trevecca Nazarene University.

Brown is a member of UTC’s Chancellor’s Roundtable and a board member of Enterprise Center, Launch, Lookout Mountain Conservancy and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Burd is an account manager with Galerma. She previously worked in pharmaceutical sales with Medtronic, Allergan and Salix Pharmaceuticals.

Burd is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in general health studies. She and her husband, Alex, serve the MaryEllen Locher Scholarship Foundation, which was established in honor of his mother. Burd serves as a board member and treasurer, as well as fundraising event chair.

Burd has also served on the auction committee for CHI Memorial Foundation’s Pink! Gala and is serving as auction co-chair for 2021. She was part of EMERGE Montgomery Young Professionals Leadership Group in 2015.
