Chattanooga State gets green light for new $21.7M TCAT building

Chattanooga State Community College recently moved into the state budget winner’s circle when the General Assembly approved funds for a new $21.7 million advanced manufacturing building for the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Chattanooga.

The planning stage for the 40,000-square-foot building and renovations to Chattanooga State’s two existing TCAT buildings will take place in 2021. Chattanooga State expects to complete construction on the new building in 2023. The college will then renovate its current TCAT buildings in 2024.

Chattanooga State President Dr. Rebecca Ashford says a lack of space has prevented the college from expanding existing or adding new TCAT programs.

“The new Advanced Manufacturing building for the Chattanooga State TCAT will enable us to educate and train more students,” she adds.
