La Paz Chattanooga will host the 2020 Taquiza Taco Tour the week of July 27 to support local Latino restaurants struggling to survive the COVID-19 pandemic.
La Paz’s Taquiza traditionally is a taco contest and fundraising event for the organization. The inaugural event took place in October at Miller Park. There, participating restaurants set up food festival-style and eventgoers spent tokens at the different booths and voted for their favorite tacos.
In light of COVID-19, individuals will instead follow the event’s printed tour guide of over 20 taquerías and Latino-owned restaurants throughout the city.
The guides will be distributed at participating restaurants as well as select sites around Chattanooga and contain coupons for each participating restaurant.
The event will run July 27-31, with the announcement of the Golden Taco recipient via Facebook on Aug. 1.
