Dendy becomes sole owner of Southern Soul Yoga

Sara Mingus is selling her half of Southern Soul Yoga to her partner of three years, Heather Dendy, effective June 1.

“I have learned to go with the flow. I sold North Shore Yoga previously so I could be home to raise my son, Hawkins. When he started school, I co-created Southern Soul Yoga with Heather.

“Now, due to changes I’m making for my family’s well-being and starting home-school, I’m selling my half of the studio to Heather. I’m looking forward to being home more and having more energy to teaching yoga.”

Mingus has been acting studio director throughout her partnership with Dendy. Although Mingus will no longer co-own the business, she will continue to lead classes and assist students in the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program Southern Soul School of Yoga offers.

Dendy plans to continue offering yoga instruction through the yoga teachers already in place at SSY. She also plans to continue offering instruction to aspiring yoga teachers through the 200 YTT program.

“We will begin with a soft opening due June 1 and build back to a full schedule as prescribed by our health officials,” Dendy says. “We will also continue our online presence for those who want to participate in a live studio class but are unable to make it in person.”

Southern Soul Yoga is located in the Northshore community of Chattanooga. The 2,500- square-foot studio offers a variety of yoga classes, workshops and community events, both online and in-person.
