Braam takes leadership role at American Water

Tennessee American Water has named David Braam senior manager of government affairs and economic development for Tennessee.

As lead for the company’s legislative and business development efforts, Braam is responsible for economic development, legislative and regulatory strategy. Braam reports to Tennessee American Water president Darlene Williams.

Braam has over 25 years of experience in advocacy, government relations and legal roles within the state of Tennessee.

He is a licensed attorney and has previously served as the director of legislation for the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, legislative liaison under former governor Phil Bredesen and deputy legal counsel for the Tennessee Bankers Association.

Williams said Braam’s experience and skills in achieving agreement among varying interests will benefit Tennessee American Water’s customers and communities.

A native of Cleveland, Tennessee, Braam holds a law degree from the University of Memphis and a degree in political science from the University of Georgia.
