Four Chattanooga attorneys will participate in the Tennessee Bar Association’s 2020 Leadership Law program: Stephen Adams of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel; Matt Brock of Best Hayduk Brock; Michael Dumitru of Miller & Martin; and Samantha Lunn of Husch Blackwell.
Now in its 17th year, Leadership Law is designed to “equip Tennessee lawyers with the vision, knowledge and skills necessary to serve as leaders in their profession and local communities,” says the TBA in a news release.
Adams is a registered patent attorney. He represents entrepreneurs, inventors, startups, corporations, governmental entities and universities.
Adams has worked with clients to obtain IP protection for road building and material processing machinery, safety devices and cargo carriers for all-terrain vehicles, an adjustable squat rack assembly, an electronics charging block and a water-powered turbine enclosure.
Brock’s practice is focused on impaired driving crimes. He has also handled Class C misdemeanors and first-degree murders.
Brock is a certified instructor in the DUI detection and standardized field sobriety testing course recognized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. (This is the course police officers take in order to make DUI arrests.)
Brock is a board member for the DUI Defense Lawyers Association and a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Chattanooga Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Dumitru is a commercial litigator who represents large corporations, local businesses and individuals. Over the course of his career, he has represented health care providers in government investigations and disputes with payors and litigated complex commercial cases, contract disputes, claims between members of closely held companies, lawsuits involving public utility companies, construction disputes and adversary proceedings in bankruptcy.
Lunn is a commercial litigator in Husch Blackwell’s financial services and capital markets group. She counsels national and international clients on complex financial matters, including securities litigation, corporate and fiduciary governance, insurance litigation and white-collar investigations and litigation.
Lunn also has expertise in the areas of e-discovery and data retention, says huschblackwell.com.
Lunn earned her juris doctor from Duke University in 2005 and a degree in accounting from Pepperdine University 2002.
The class will meet for its first session in January and then spend the next six months learning about leadership in the legal profession, issues in the courts, policymaking in state government and the importance of community service.
