Events: Donate clothes for homeless teens




Signal Mountain High School students Caroline Cornett, Emily Holt and Sydney Houck are partnering to hold a clothing drive to benefit homeless teens through Threads of Care, a nonprofit organization that works to provide homeless teens with basic necessities. The drive will run through Friday, March 15. The students will be accepting new or gently used jackets, shirts, shorts, pants and more at the middle and high school entrances on those dates. After the drive, the girls will donate the collected items to a Chattanooga organization of their choice.

Women Build Breakfast

Heart for Haiti Awards

Former Haitian prime minister Dr. Jack Guy Lafontant will be the guest speaker for the annual Heart for Haiti Award presentation and benefit dinner Friday, March 15, at Stratton Hall. The Children’s Nutrition Program established the Deb Watlington Heart for Haiti Award in 2015 to recognize an individual who has “gone the extra mile” to support CNP’s efforts. This year’s honoree is the late Chattanooga filmmaker Bobby Stone. The annual benefit dinner supports programs that have reduced childhood malnutrition from 25 percent to 3 percent among Haitian children ages 5 and under. Lit Tee to raise funds for orphaned females in Cameroon

The Mary Walker Historical and Educational Foundation and LSMB Business Solutions are celebrating National Reading Month with Lit Tee, a tea party fundraiser to support foundation and literacy programs in Cameroon, Africa. The event will be held at the Chattanooga Event Center, 2193 Park Drive, Saturday, March 30, noon-2 p.m. Admission is $35. Guests are encouraged to wear a “snazzy” T-shirt of their choice.
