Celebrating small businesses

Small businesses across the Greater Chattanooga area are joining this holiday shopping season to promote the local products and services that make our community distinctive.

While local shops and restaurants can provide consumers with a more personal and satisfying experience, support for small businesses doesn’t have to stop with consumer goods and eateries. Most home builders, remodelers and professional service providers in the region are locally owned as well.

As companies doing business in their own communities, these home building and remodeling professionals play an important part in providing jobs, paying taxes and supporting the local economy.

Small Businesses Administration research finds small businesses nationwide create 1.9 million net new jobs yearly and represented 99.9 percent of firms with paid employees.

And nothing packs a bigger local economic impact than home building. National Association of Home Builders research shows building 100 new single-family homes creates 297 full-time jobs, $28 million in wages and business income and $11.1 million in federal, state and local tax revenue.

Like many small businesses in the tri-state region, local home builders have a deep interest in making sure the places we live remain safe, clean, attractive, and vibrant. So, when you’re looking for someone to remodel your kitchen, refurbish your deck, or even build your dream home, shop local. There are hundreds of builder businesses based in the Chattanooga community that can help you with whatever project you have in mind.
