Events: Chattanooga Market at the Convention Center




The Downtown Chattanooga Market is moving indoors for the final three weekends of the 2018 season. Vendors will be at the Chattanooga Convention Center Dec. 1-2, 8-9 and 15-16. The market will be open Saturdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Guided hike on the Cumberland Trail

Join Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Coolidge Park, for a guided hike on the Cumberland Trail on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. Trained guides will lead registered participants on a five-mile hike that’s rated as moderately strenuous to explore a unique section of the trail. Outdoor Chattanooga will provide a shuttle for the one-way trek. Register: 423 643-6888.

Symphony presents A Classical Christmas

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera continues its Sunday Chamber Concert Series with “A Classical Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at the Chattanooga State Community College Humanities Theatre. This concert features works from Ola Gjeilo’s “Christmas Carols for Chorus,” Elgar’s “Chanson de Nuit & Chanson du Matin,” and Reger’s “Weihnachten.”

Tickets are $28 and can be purchased at www.chattanoogasymphony.org or 423 267-8583. Following the concert, ticketholders are invited to a post-concert talk with CSO Music Director and Conductor Kayoko Dan.

Candle lighting service

Erlanger Health System will present the 24th annual Moments to Share candle lighting service on Wednesday, Dec. 5 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, 214 E. 8th St.

Erlanger invites families who have suffered the loss of a baby before, during, or after birth to come together during the holiday season to honor the memory of their child. Families are encouraged to bring poems, pictures and precious memories of their baby to display throughout the service. Information: 423 778-5149.
