St. Barnabas Senior Living Services becomes St. Barnabas Healthcare Center

The St. Barnabas Board of Directors last week announced the 48-year-old organization is changing its name to St. Barnabas Healthcare Center.

Chairman of the Board Gaines Campbell said the name change from St. Barnabas Senior Living Services to St. Barnabas Healthcare Center more clearly reflects the services provided.

“Since the sale of our original campus last year, we no longer offer assisted living and retirement apartments,” said Campbell. “This small but significant name change is important to furthering the reach of our brand.”

Founded in 1965 by community and ecumenical leaders to meet the pressing need for quality elder care in Chattanooga, St. Barnabas became home for many of our community’s seniors. Over the years, though, it has become a short-term home for many older adults who receive therapy before returning to their own homes.

The new name is more descriptive of the organization’s distinct identity and services, which now focuses on a strong rehab therapy program, along with traditional long-term care.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for September 25 at 3:30 p.m. will celebrate the organization’s new name.
