The Association for Visual Arts’ third annual Between the Bridges arts festival will expand to two days this year: Saturday, Oct. 14, and Sunday, Oct. 15, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. AVA will present more than 40 local artists in Coolidge Park, between the Veterans and Walnut Street bridges. The event will be free for attendees.
The Chattanooga Vegan Festival will also take place in Coolidge Park that weekend.
The festival will feature painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramicists and jewelry artists. Two of the artists who will display their works are represented at Signal Centers’ H*Art Gallery, a nonprofit organization that sells art by local painters who are experiencing homelessness.
Between The Bridges will also feature the work of ceramics artists working out of the Scenic City Clay Arts cooperative space downtown.

Hunter White memorial
Friends and family of local Chattanooga musician Hunter White will gather for the fifth annual Hunter’s Gift: A Musical Gathering Saturday, Sept. 30, 7-10 p.m. at Tremont Tavern (1203 Hixson Pike).
The event will be held in memory of White and raise awareness of suicide prevention. Local musicians Butch Ross and Amber Fults, David Morris, Tiffany Taylor, Jon Wimpee, BJ Hightower, Hara Paper, Mini Fridge and Adam Staudacher and Bexy Ribiero will perform.
11th annual Stuffing Strut
Registration is now open for the 11th Annual Stuffing Strut. This year’s event will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning – Nov. 23 – at Chester Frost Park.
The Stuffing Strut is an annual 5K that benefits four nonprofits in northern Hamilton County: The Northside Neighborhood House, the Soddy Daisy Food Bank, the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department and Soddy Daisy Middle School’s Jim Wilson Fund. Register at nnhouse.org/events.
The Northside Neighborhood House operates Santa’s Workshop and provides continuous wrap-around services for families. The Soddy Daisy Food Bank provides holiday food boxes, in addition to food and other supplies year-round. The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Rescue operates an annual Christmas toy giveaway. The Jim Wilson Fund provides winter clothing for Soddy Daisy Middle School students.
