Last month, Lynda Hood and I met with key faculty at Brainerd High School and secured their commitment to participate in the mock trial competition.
You might remember that in July, Lynda and I attended a meeting with Dr. Bryan Johnson, Blake Freeman and Gerald Harris to develop the involvement of Hamilton County’s schools in the mock trial competition. In that meeting, Tyner committed to participate.
Judge Alex McVeagh will be soliciting more participation from Hamilton County high schools within the near future.
Our goal is to have every Hamilton County high school involved in the competition. Students need to know that the lawyers in our community are accessible to them and that this profession continues to be crucial to the functioning of this wonderful democracy.

On Sept. 18, the CBA hosted a reception for our Tennessee Supreme Court at the Chattanooga Theatre. Our justices were all in attendance and were happy to meet all who were there – and attendance was excellent. Our CBA was well represented!
On Sept. 19 at Chattanooga State, the Tennessee Supreme Court brought its SCALES program to the city to educate high school students about the judicial branch of government. Over 500 students attended. Judge J.B. Bennett gave opening remarks. Thanks J.B.!
