Chattanooga State Community College is now offering four programs to students interested in the field of emergency medical services, including an associate degree program for aspiring paramedics and three technical certificate programs for students seeking to be paramedics, emergency medical technicians and advanced emergency medical technicians.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the EMS field has an expected growth rate of 6% over the next 10 years.
Chattanooga State’s emergency medical services programs are accepting applications for 2021 enrollment now. These include:
Paramedic technical certificate

EMT technical certificate
• Kimball Site
• Begins spring 2021

EMT and AEMT technical certificate
• Main campus
• Begins spring 2021
• Apply by Jan. 15
The Paramedic Technical Certificate hybrid program is primarily an online program that allows students to learn on their own schedule and includes one day per week on campus for psychomotor learning and testing.
The program involves three semesters of fundamentals, laboratory and clinical learning, with graduation scheduled for December 2021.
The EMT Technical Certificate Program will meet from 6-11 p.m. Central time Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
