The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will continue its new First Horizon Foundation Instrumental Series with Brass & Friends on Friday, Sept. 25, 7 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 26, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Collegedale Commons.
The show will highlight the CSO brass and wind quintets as they perform works inspired by pirate tales and the classic narratives of “Carmen” and “West Side Story.”
The concert is the second public performance of the organization’s 2020-21 season, which was reformatted to include smaller concerts of limited audience sizes as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.
The updated schedule includes performances at a wide variety of new venues throughout the community. Brass & Friends will mark the CSO’s first concert at the Collegedale Commons.
“Both groups will play a variety of works from Bernstein to Bizet, but I’m particularly excited to introduce Chattanooga composer Douglas Hedwig’s ‘Onyx for Brass Quintet,’” says Kayoko Dan, CSO music director. “I think the audience will find this concert to be upbeat and fun, and I’m looking forward to performing at Collegedale Commons.”
Tickets will not be sold at the venue and capacity is limited for concerts in the Instrumental Series, so the public is encouraged to buy tickets early.
Attendees will be required to wear masks, follow social distancing guidelines and adhere to the CSO’s COVID-19 related concert health and safety guidelines, which can be found at chattanoogasymphony.org/concert-health-safety.
Purchase tickets at www.chattanoogasymphony.org or contact the CSO box office at 423 267-8583. Additionally, the box office is open for in-person purchases each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
