The National Association of Realtors is recognizing a Greater Chattanooga Realtors’ member for his community service.
Steven Sharpe, president of Greater Chattanooga Realtors, received the Tennessee Realtors’ 2023 Good Neighbor Award for his work with Camp Horizon, a summer camp experience for children with physical disabilities like paralysis, spina bifida and cerebral palsy.
Camp Horizon received a $5,000 donation in honor of Sharpe from Tennessee Realtors earlier this year.
Sharpe is now a top-10 finalist for the National Association of Realtors’ Good Neighbor Award. Sharpe and Camp Horizon are competing for the Web Choice Favorite. The three candidates with the most votes will receive an additional $2,500 for their nonprofit.
Members of the public can cast their vote at www.realtor.com/goodneighbor. Voters do not have to be a Realtor and may vote as often as they like through Oct. 1.
Sharpe was honored in a Sept. 22 ad in the Wall Street Journal that promoted the Good Neighbor Award and the Web Choice Favorite voting. Sharpe’s Chattanooga-based nonprofit also received recognition.
Sharpe co-founded Camp Horizon with his wife, Lindsey. Since 2005, the camp has engaged more than 500 kids in canoeing, horseback riding, fishing and other accessible activities. To ensure the children’s enjoyment and safety, the camp has more than 50 volunteer counselors, many with medical training.
