City Traffic Engineer Ralph G. Lewis, Jr., has resigned to become traffic engineer for the Nashville-Davidson County metropolitan government effective Oct. 1. The new post will pay Mr. Lewis about $15,000 a year, some $3,000 more than he was making here.
Sunday, Sept. 18
U.S. District Judge Charles J. Neese will come to Chattanooga Monday to hold court for Judge Frank W. Wilson, who will open the Federal District Court in New Hampshire Monday for the new fall term. U.S. Chief Justice Warren designated Judge Wilson to take over the New Hampshire Court because of the illness of Dist. Judge Aloysius J. Connor.
Monday, Sept. 19
Dedication of the St. Barnabas Apartments today served to point up the fine concern Chattanoogans have for housing the elderly. In his dedicatory address, the Rt. Rev. John Vander Horst, Episcopal Bishop of Tennessee, expressed it this way: “May this apartment house ever be a haven of joy and peace, of warmth and fellowship for all who dwell herein.”
Tuesday, Sept. 20
Roy Rogers, King of Cowboys, got a royal welcome Tuesday evening at Moccasin Bend Gun Club. He was in Chattanooga as director of Winchester’s National Claybird Tournament.
Thomas W. Trevor, Jr., vice president and manager of the Brainerd office of First Federal Savings & Loan Association, was nominated as president of the Chattanooga Kiwanis Club for 1967 at the Tuesday luncheon meeting. He will succeed President Lou Harris.
Wednesday, Sept. 21
Acting Postmaster Frank C. Moore has been formally appointed Assistant Postmaster of Chattanooga by the Post Office Department. Moore has been serving as acting Postmaster since March 1, 1965, and is considered the most eligible applicant for the position of Postmaster.
The Better Housing Commission took action Wednesday on 60 substandard units, the decisions ranging from taking bids to demolition to giving owners up to 60 days in which to complete repairs. Chairman W.S. Keese, Jr., appointed a nominating committee for 1967 officers composed of John Crabtree, chairman, S.F. Bretske, and the Rev. W.C. Weaver.

The Sperry and Hutchinson Co. S&H Green Stamp Redemption Center had its official grand opening Thursday morning at 11 o’clock at 1089 Bailey Ave. Mrs. Theda O’Neal is manager of the center.
Friday, Sept. 23
Mrs. Vicki Lynn Hurd, Miss Tennessee and runner-up for Miss America, was an honored guest Wednesday night at the 36th annual banquet of Dixie Saving Stores. Jack Norman of Shurfine Central Corp., Northlake, Ill., was the principal speaker for the occasion. George Berke is general manager of Dixie Saving Stores Inc. M.C. Gross, president of the group, presided at the banquet.
