Chattanooga Room in the Inn, a residential facility for homeless women and children, was chosen as a beneficiary in Karndean’s 40 Good Floors for 40 Good Causes Campaign. Rhonda Gay with Chattanooga Flooring Center nominated the non-profit agency.
At the same time, the women’s group of Christ United Methodist Church, under the direction of interior designer Amy Winchester of AW Interiors, chose the agency for a service project renovating the heavily used and outdated kitchen.
The kitchen received new cabinets, countertops, and fresh paint from the Women’s Group along with new flooring from Karndean. The flooring donation of 1,500 square feet was enough for the entire first floor of the facility.
Work was done by volunteers from various local and out-of-town agencies. Innovative Cabinetry installed the new kitchen cabinets, while Floor Designs put down the donated flooring. Volunteers from The Refuge, a mission group from West Point, Miss., removed the old materials, did prep work, and painted.
