The Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police recently held its 44th annual conference in Chattanooga. Retired Chattanooga Chief Freeman Cooper is this year’s recipient of the Retired Chief of the Year Award, an honor given to him by his colleagues.

Presented for his continued progressive, innovative, and professional role in the law enforcement community in his retirement, this award recognizes those retired chiefs who continue to make the TACP part of their lives, promote professionalism, and mentor current law enforcement executives even after they leave their respective agencies.

“Freeman Cooper continues to give as much to the TACP, law enforcement, and his community in his retirement as he did an active chief,” said TACP President David Moore at the 44th Annual Awards Banquet. “He rarely misses a bi-monthly meeting or an annual conference, and he always stands ready to help and mentor his colleagues.”

Founded in 1970, the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police works together to shape public safety policy and provide executive level training to law enforcement executives from agencies statewide.
