Free fitness class continues
Outdoor Chattanooga and Greenlife Grocery will continue to host its free public fitness class using the PX90 and Insanity programs through the end of the month. The class will take place Thursdays at 6 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga in Coolidge Park. Instructor Paul Mason has geared the class toward people of all fitness levels. Eilen Jewell at Nightfall
Eilen Jewell is a Boston-based singer songwriter with a unique style that incorporates Western swing, rock, honky-tonk and jazzed-up country. A young rising star with a voice of distinction, Jewell will perform at Miller Plaza beginning at 8 p.m.

Chickamauga Battlefield bicycle tour
Outdoor Chattanooga will host a free bicycle tour of Chickamauga Battlefield beginning at 9:30 a.m. Adults and kids ages 8 and older are invited to take a leisurely ride around the battlefield with a National Park interpretive ranger to learn about Civil War history. Bring your own bicycle or borrow one from Outdoor Chattanooga. To reserve a loaner bike, call the Battlefield Visitors Center at 706-866-9241. Helmets are required for all riders.
Additional tours are scheduled for Sept. 15 and October 20. Meet at the Battlefield Visitors Center.

FOC Bicycle Ride from Chickamauga
The Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga will host a special adult bicycle ride from Chickamauga to join the Chickamauga Battlefield bicycle tour beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Gordon Lee High School. The FOC ride will travel trafficked roads from Gordon Lee to Chickamauga Battlefield, where the group will join Outdoor Chattanooga’s tour. The ride is appropriate for adults and kids ages 16 and older when accompanied by an adult.

5th Annual Paws for the Cause Fundraiser
Join Friends of Paws for the Cause and the Humane Educational Society for the 5th Annual Paws for the Cause Fundraiser. Beginning at 6 p.m. at The Mill, located at 1601 Gulf Street, guests will enjoy an evening of food, complimentary wine and beer, and a silent and live auction. Entertainment will include an energetic show by the Calo Gitano dancers from Atlanta. The night will benefit the Getting to Zero campaign to end animal overpopulation in Chattanooga and Hamilton County.

Attention antique clock and watch collectors
The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors will hold its annual mid-south regional meet at the Hamilton County Convention & Trade Center. A free exhibit featuring over 50 antique clocks from the 1800s will be on display on Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sept. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A guided walking tour of the exhibit will take place Sept. 1 at 11:30 p.m. A lecture designed for the general public titled “The Art and Science of Collecting Antique Clocks” will take place Sept. 1 at 10:30 a.m. Finally, the society will hold a free “Antique Roadshow” for the public on Sept. 1 between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Take your clocks and watches for a free evaluation by their experts.

Crabtree Farms’ fall plant sale
Crabtree Farms will hold its annual fall plant sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. People looking for the perfect fall plants for their backyard or community garden will be able to purchase plants started in Crabtree’s greenhouses, check out vendor booths from local artisans, and attend free workshops taught by Crabtree’s Joel Houser. The event will also provide an opportunity for people to ask questions, get advice and meet others in the community who are making the choice to grow their own! All ages are welcome.
