David Phelps coming to Calvary Chapel

Bark-B-Q Boat Ride

The Humane Educational Society will host a Bark-B-Q Boat Ride aboard the Southern Belle on Sunday, Aug. 18 from 5-6:30 p.m. Boarding begins at 4:30 p.m. The event will include dinner, a silent auction and adoptable animals. The proceeds will benefit homeless animals at HES.

Dine and Donate at Your Pie

Your Pie Fort Oglethorpe (3809 Battlefield Pkwy.) will be hosting Dine and Donate events Aug. 19-21 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. During each event, the restaurant will serve free pizzas for up to 200 registered guests and collect monetary donations on behalf of Thru Jordan’s Eyes, a local eye care charity. The home school revolution

Hamilton Flourishing will continue its monthly educational series with a talk on the history of homeschooling in Tennessee Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Chattanooga Public Library. Homeschooling pioneers Stuart and Tamie Goggins will lead the discussion. All ages and backgrounds are invited.

ChaTech hosts CxO auction

The Chattanooga Technology Council will host its 8th annual CxO Auction Thursday, Aug. 22 at Chattanooga Whiskey Event Hall. The event will begin with a networking reception and whiskey tours from 5-6 p.m. Dinner and the auction will follow beginning at 6 p.m. The CxO Auction brings together the Chattanooga tech community to support the outreach programs provided by ChaTech, including coding camps for youth, scholarships for college students in IT majors and educational programs for professionals.

PAWnaroo to benefit animal shelter

Fifteen bands, two food trucks and a multitude of artists will convene Saturday, Aug. 24, from noon-10 p.m. at The Camp House (149 E. M L King Blvd.) for PAWnaroo. The music and arts festival will benefit Pet Placement Center, a local no-kill animal shelter. Atlanta-based bands Fairshake, World’s Greatest Dad and Clavicle will be among those playing. The early hours of the event will be family friendly, with face painting for kids and dogs from Pet Placement Center on-site. The content will become more adult centered in the evening. Eat barbeque with Chuck Fleischmann

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann will hold his first Labor Day barbecue picnic Monday, Sept. 2, at the Vital Buffalo Farm in Hamilton County. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and include an afternoon of bluegrass music. Tickets are available at www.chuckforcongress.com/bbq.

National Treasures at Point Park

The 11th annual National Treasures at Point Park is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The event will benefit National Park Partners (formerly Friends of Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park and Friends of Moccasin Bend). Chattanooga’s Holistic Fall Festival

Chattanooga’s Holistic Fall Festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 7 at Crabtree Farms from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission to the festival is free. Tickets are available on Eventbrite by searching for “Chattanooga’s Holistic Fall Festival.” The event will feature 18 holistic practitioners as well as beer from Hutton & Smith and cheese from Blue Fox Cheese Shop.

League of Women Voters fundraiser

The League of Women Voters will celebrate the Chattanooga women involved in the effort to enfranchise women at a fundraising event Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at The Feed Table and Tavern on West Main Street. There will be a a gourmet meal, and jazz pianist Michelle Pranoto of Lee University’s music department will perform. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.com. Racial justice workshop

Local education nonprofit The Chattery will host author Austin Channing Brown for an open-to-the-public racial justice workshop on Friday, Sept. 27 at The Camp House.
