The city of East Ridge will celebrate the grand reopening of the newly renovated East Ridge Community Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Saturday, Aug. 22. The ribbon cutting begins at 11 a.m., followed by tours, family-friendly activities, raffles and a light lunch (while supplies last) through 4 p.m. The $2.6 million renovation includes an expanded gym with a regulation basketball court and pickleball courts, improved accessibility, upgraded building systems and remodeled community spaces. Nooga Hunger Walk
The event, hosted by the Chattanooga Area Food Bank and Feeding the Future, will take place at First Horizon Pavilion. Sponsored by Five Star Breaktime Solutions, the family-friendly event will raise funds and awareness to fight food insecurity in the Chattanooga area. The 5K begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a 1-mile walk at 8:45 a.m. The event will also feature children’s activities and local food trucks. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Proceeds will support hunger-relief efforts throughout the region.

U.S. Constitution reading
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee will host its annual public reading of the U.S. Constitution on the courthouse steps of the Joel W. Solomon Federal Building, 900 Georgia Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The public is invited to participate by reading one of 110 brief segments of the Constitution, assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Music in the Wild
The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera and Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center will present Music in the Wild at Reflection Riding, 400 Garden Road. Gates open at 3 p.m., with food trucks and family activities beginning at 3:30 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. outdoor performance of Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf,” narrated by Jed Mescon. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for the performance and can enjoy wildlife encounters, activity stations and food trucks throughout the event. Preserve Chattanooga fundraisers
Preserve Chattanooga will host two annual wine fundraising events this fall: Best Cellars on Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. at St. John’s Restaurant, 729 Chestnut St., and Wine Over Water on Saturday from 4-6:30 p.m. at Renaissance Park, 133 River St. Best Cellars features curated wines paired with cuisine by Executive Chef Patrick Sawyer and live music by saxophonist Robert Crabtree. Wine Over Water offers unlimited wine tastings, an individual charcuterie box from Bleu Fox Cheese Shop and scenic views along the Tennessee River. Proceeds from both events support Preserve Chattanooga’s mission to protect the city’s architectural heritage through preservation, education and advocacy. Hamilton County Fair
The Little Debbie Hamilton County Fair returns to McDonald Farm in Sale Creek with three days of family-friendly entertainment, agricultural exhibits, livestock competitions, fair food, rides, rodeo events, lumberjack shows, pig races and live music. Country artist Rodney Atkins will headline the Saturday night concert with Hamilton County native Brandon Davis opening, while David Leonard and Amber Carrington will perform during Sunday’s Christian concert. Admission includes amusement rides, concerts and most attractions, and parking is free. Children 10 and younger are admitted free, with discounted tickets available for veterans, active military members, seniors, first responders and teachers. Tickets/information
