Miss Maude Bowser leaves today for Jacksonville, Fla., to visit her sister, Miss Earl Cook. Miss Frank Luther, who has been the guest of Miss Bowser, has returned to her home in Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Judson Buchanan have returned from a stay at Rhea Springs.
Sunday, July 9
Mrs. S.L. Deakins and daughter, Virginia, are visiting Mrs. Deakins’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Anderson, in Ringgold, Ga.
The Associated Charities flower committee, under the direction of Mrs. T.S. McCallie, has placed flowers in Erlanger Hospital for out-of-town patients, children, and in the wards. She was thrilled by the pleasure expressed by those receiving the flowers.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Erwin, Misses Marian Erwin and Pauline Colyar will return this week from Atlantic Beach.
Tuesday, July 11
Jimmy Johnston, a Chattanooga boy and Southern League speed fiend, is making a great hit with the Brooklyn Nationals. Carl Hood, former newspaperman from here, says Jimmy is going like “old times” and is the “Hero of Brooklyn.”
A delegation from the Chamber of Commerce composed of President C. H. Houston, Secretary Hal Wiltse and Paul J. Kruesi, have gone to Nashville in the interest of the Muscle Shoals development. It is hoped a nitrate plant can be established there.

Mrs. L.S. Whitaker, who is ill at West Ellis Hospital, will be removed to her home on Georgia Avenue this week.
David Key and Douglas Spears are with a surveying party in the North Carolina mountains this month.
Miss Carol Stratton and Mr. Ladd M. Sumner were married Tuesday at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stratton on Missionary Ridge. Dr. E.A. Elmore officiated. Following a reception, the young couple left for Asheville, N.C., to be the guests of Mr. Summer’s parents. Mrs. Summer is a young woman of charm and beauty.

Mrs. Max Seaton of Cleveland, Ohio, is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Betts in St. Elmo.
A group of hardware men from the Carolinas who are attending a convention here were the guests of the Manufacturers’ Association on a boat ride down the river to Hale’s Bar. The convention has been meeting at Signal Mountain Inn. President H.E. Reid was unable to attend so Grant Wright delivered the opening address.
Miss Frances Flemister of Tunnel Hill, Ga., is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Lee Wert on Walden’s Ridge.

Miss Vashti Bradford of Nashville is here to visit Mrs. E.D. Jones and Miss Maude Bradford.
Lt. Roy Henry of Carobal, Panama, is the guest of his ant, Mrs. Rudicil at Chickamauga, Ga.
John Gilbreath is spending this week in Dayton recuperating from a recent indisposition.
