Listing agent Mac Hibbett of Crye-Leike has begun pre-sales of Market Street Lofts, a downtown Chattanooga condominium project. Located in the Southern Railway Building, a nearly century-old red brick structure, Market Street Lofts is a purely residential development.
While the top two floors of the three-story building have consisted of condominiums for several years, the ground floor was set aside for commercial tenants until recently, when the owner decided to convert that space to condos as well.
Hibbett says the goal of the project is to provide luxury living spaces at competitive price points. Exposed brick walls that once housed the employees of a bustling railroad company will now contain a dozen small condos with 12-foot high ceilings, Koch quality handcrafted cabinetry, Viatera Quartz countertops, Maytag appliances (including stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave), and a stackable LG washer and dryer. Some units will also feature a wine cooler and an electric fireplace.
Hibbett says the condos will be ideal for people who want to live downtown, as Market Street Lofts is located a short walk away from several bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues. He also believes the size of the units will appeal to many buyers. “My generation doesn’t want big houses, big cars, and big things. We’re OK with smaller spaces,” he says.
Hibbett says the new Market Street Loft condos will be completed in three phases, with the first units being available Sept. 1. The rest are slated to be finished by mid-October. Hibbett already has four under contract.
